Happy Christmas

Happy Christmas

Min and her friend the Yule Lad wish all their friends a Buorrit Juovllat, Gledileg Jol, Noeliniz Kutlu Olsun, Glædelig Jul, God Jul, Feliz Navidad, Gajan Kristnaskon, Joyeux Noël and Merry Christmas.

Thanks and best wishes to all the Hitty friends, and special thanks to those from whom I acquired objects and inspiration for the Yule Lad series…

The one and only Quimper Hitty Yule Lad was the stand-in for all his brothers.  He started life as a pair of ceramic hands and feet gifted to me by Laura,  twisted onto a wire and threaded into an Icelandic Lopi wool sweater. Later he acquired a body needle felted by the local human, and was further refined after reading a book recommended by Melinda. Bits of him appear in all the episodes, but today he is daring enough to show his face! His purple and white sweaters were bought at the Eyjafjallajökull visitor centre.

Young Min was carved by Doll Artist TC Vollum, and she arrived two years ago today…Happy Birthday Min!

Min’s Dress was knitted by the amazing and incredible knitting genius, my Hitty friend Tree! In this picture, Min is wearing an Icelandic Sweater made by Guðlaug Þorgeirsdóttir, and purchased in Höfn.  In earlier episodes Min is wearing a pretty blue cardigan made by another Hitty friend whose dolls also have adventures (click here).

The Quimper Hittys would not have had a Christmas tree this year if it  hadn’t been for our kind friend Sherry.

Special thanks and greetings to my cousins big and small in Iceland for the inspiration and the book about the Yule Lads.

The Quimper Hittys’ favourite photographer is responsible for this and a couple of the other images in this series, thanks so much for recognizing and recording all the fun 🙂

  2. Merry Christmas to the Quimper Hittys and all their associated humans!! The Bonsai Hittys love the stories.
