A New Weaving Project

Which Dent?

Which Dent?

A new weaving project has Constance choosing a 10 dent reed (that is ten”teeth” per inch). Small rag ruglets need thicker warps and more space between each warp.

Our friend with the new loom wanted to exercise her new warp-winder too, and we are the beneficiaries!

And meanwhile we have been preparing weft rags.

  1. oh poor Mungo…he must think an entire clan (or 3) were massacred to create this pile!!! Great pics, looking forward to seeing the rug in process.

    • Mungo is devastated at the sacrilege! The girls are trying to explain that we only use scraps from a kilt factory and that no actual kilts were murdered for this project, but he is still shuddering!

    • Constance is so glad that there are signs of spring, including light in the mornings, and more energy for new projects, even the mere thought of spring seems to paint the world in fresh colours!

  2. Constance is one happy little girl – She seems to be enjoying her new weaving project. Those pieces of kilt fabrics look too good to be scraps – that is why Mungo is horrified – No worries – Constance will find a way to remove his fears !!!

    • True kilts are safe – “rag” is only a term used to describe a fat weft made from cut up cloth….we only used scraps from the cutting room floor of a kilt-making workshop (this time, ahem).
