Sleepover in the Tent

Sleepover in the Tent

After hearing from Agathe about the wonders of the Quimper Hitty tent, Opal was excited to sleep in it at last…the girls planned to wake up at 3 am to view the lunar eclipse!!!

  1. We rose to find a ring around the eclipsed moon descending into fog. The mist made the moon wink in and out, making totality hard to gauge aside from the timetable. Still hoping to capture the rust-red…we’ll return to fog-gazing.

  2. Ah, here in the Midwest, we had a perfectly clear view of the eclipsed, blood moon. The local TV weathermen were ecstatic as were those who live with the Hittys here. Thanks for sharing your early morning adventures!

  3. How could they possibly sleep with that marvelous telescope to play with?
This might be my favorite-yet adventure. If only there had been Mackies Crisps at our house!

    • It is amazing what a Hitty can do with an ergonomic garlic press, a fountain pen-sized monocular and a couple of rubber bands…too bad it was so foggy!

Mackie Crisps are definitely the best!

    • Well it was totally fogged-in here so no-one saw the eclipse anyway! I bought the tent for $5.00 at a hardware store, it was their shop model and they were only too glad to get rid of it at the end of the season. The Hittys have been in high glee ever since!

  4. What an amazing adventure for the girls. Love the way they were positioning the telescope, and they were so snug in their sleeping bags, I don’t blame them for not getting up – It was a good experience for them.
