A Case of Baskets

One of the Quimper Hitty’s friends has sent a wonderful parcel to us, containing some absolutely wonderful hand-made baskets. She knew they would have a good home, surrounded by people large and small, who appreciate and value them…

The outside has faded, but inside the Northwest Coast basket, you can still see the colours, and the design, which shows a whaling canoe and whale on the sides and a circular burst of colour on the lid.

…though this beautiful one with its spray of coloured leaves and grass tuft might be awkward in a crowd…

Our friend sent us so much information about these lovely baskets, we thought it best to just let you read it for yourselves!

  1. Those baskets are artistically made and Rose seems to think so too. She is just the perfect little model and that brown dress looks good on her.

  2. How clever of your friend to send these baskets to you and the Quimper HIttys. Indeed they will be cared for and appreciated at your home. And of course your “girls” and the cats will make good use of them. Great pics and some interesting history! as always being with the Quimper Hittys is a learning experience.
