Cerro de Monserrate
On a sunny Sunday morning in Bogota we went to the monastery of Monserrate, which was completed in 1640, and has been a pilgrimage site since that time. In the picture above you can see the tower at the top of the hill, and also some vertical train tracks.
Here is the funicular car, coming down the track to the station…
…and here are Constance and Gracia at the top of the five minute ride…
…and here is the spectacular view from the top!

Amazing view! Wow!
It was totally worth waiting in line for the funicular!
The QHs always seem to have a spectacular view wherever they go…my, that track looks quite steep!
The track was pretty steep! Still we were glad the funicular was running, it would have been too much of a climb on the steps!
Wow!
We were totally impressed with the huge city spread out below – and not all of it could be seen from that angle!
Fantastic!! How wonderful for the Hittys to be able to travel to such a distant location!
We were pretty lucky to have a work-related visit to this wonderful area, and doubly lucky to have friends living here, so we could extend the trip a little!
