Small Socks

Big Sleeping Bag

Big Sleeping Bag

Rose is always willing to help with a knitting project, and provided much encouragement with the latest pair of socks (though she, like the rest of the Hittys, always optimistically refers to hand-made socks as Hitty Sleeping Bags).

The youngest member of the human family happened to visit last weekend and she greatly admired the socks, which made Rose ponder the leftover yarn.

She figured it looked about the right amount to knit a pair of small socks.

  1. Rose dear, you are an accomplished knitter! Smart choice of needles… 😌 Congratulations on the small sock….it (and its mate) will undoubtedly make a young human very happy…but Gilly will miss it!

    • I think she will like them! It was fun to write and ask for a tracing of her foot – it came with a funny letter on the other side! Poor Hittys – doomed to disappointment almost every time I get out the knitting needles! One of these days I will fix that situation.

  2. That first photo of the flowers that matched the color of the socks is striking. You have a gift for creating a story with your photos alone. That gorgeous carnation? And giant zinnia? With the yarn in that orange cup…stunning…and just when I am in awe of the color you are able to whip up…I see my little Gilly “weaving” herself into the sock…soooooooooo charming.

    • I was pleased at her attention – and her request, and happy to oblige, though I can’t quite knit as fast as she seems to expect! Gilly looks like she has caught the Hitty Sleeping bag bug.

  3. What a sweet idea Rose had and carried out. I am sure the wee one will love them. The BIG sock is beautiful. too. and looks like quite an accomplishment.

  4. Oh the colors..oh the sweetness of it all. And imagining the smallest Quimper human in these colorful socks makes me smile!
