Evening Out

Pelican

Tansy worked hard at an archaeological expedition on Quadra Island last week. She took her rain gear and her trowel, but the weather was lovely and she didn’t need the raingear….

On the weekend she took the ferry from Quadra Island over to Campbell River on Vancouver Island for a birthday dinner.

She is always happy to be on a boat…

…and doesn’t mind inflateable boats either though she is glad not to have needed this one.

The birthday dinner took place at a Thai restaurant.  Tansy thought it was delicious. The smallest person in the human family was not so sure.

Tansy was thinking she was about to get a shower, but they only took a little drink to cool their mouths off.

They examined the concrete Jelly, and Tansy told the small human about her encounters with Aurelia when she was in Haida Gwaii…

…and then they examined the wooden  roots of a carved tree.

The  small human enquired whether Tansy or Grandpa could stay overnight, but sadly the two of them had to return to Quadra that evening, so they went their separate ways…

…and on the way back to Quadra Tansy saw a Humpack whale!

  1. Tansy is such a stalwart field worker, always a pleasure to have her along. And she seems to be a whale magnet because we always see whales when she is out and about with us.

  2. Oh my goodness! So much delight! It is so neat to see her in her own Pelican case, ready for whatever adventure is about to unfold! Happy birthday to whomever was celebrating and thank you so much for sharing the celebration with us! 😀

  3. What a sweet/savory rendezvous was had with the youngest and beautifully inquisitive and looks to be imaginative member of the family. Thanks for sharing such precious times as well as continuing to clue us in on Tansy’s true nature-stalwart is a good word for her (ehpem).

    • Stalwart Tansy is a true companion – able to work and play in equal measure. We all love the Hitty view of the world, and it is a pleasure and delight to introduce it to the small ones of the family – and to share them with you too!

  4. always a joy to see the smallest Quimper Human…and lovely to see her with Tansy. As always I love Tansy’s work clothing…those jeans and shirt!!!

    • Tansy once ended up trying to do fieldwork in a Hitty dress and pinafore, it was fetching but not practical…she much prefers this combination of clothes for grubbing around in. She did make sure they were clean for the birthday dinner!

  5. Your granddaughter is adorable. Love her smile and that sweet little dress. What a blessed little one she is to have such loving and interesting grandparents. Plus what child wouldn’t be thrilled to have Hittys as their Aunties.
