Strawberry Cake-Making

Aprons

The Queen of Flowers invited Dulcie, Hattie and Lala to help make cake…the queen chose their aprons, and the girls all helped each other put them on!

Recipe

They studied the recipe carefully…

Tracing

…and watched as the The Queen of Flowers traced circles around three cake pans onto baking parchment.

Cutting

The girls helped cut out the papers.

Borrowings

There were only three eggs, so they borrowed a fourth one from under a hen next door.

Batter Beating

The girls stayed out of the splatter zone as the batter was being beaten…

Batter

…but greatly admired the result!

Strawberries

Next they chose some beautiful berries…

Sugar

…which were chopped – then Hattie added sugar…

Whipping Cream

…Dulcie tried whipping the cream – it was hard work!

Filling

Chopped Strawberries mixed with whipped cream for the filling, and plain cream for the outside…

This cake has to chill a while…

So Beautiful!

…but dessert was amazing…and delicious!!!!

They like making cake, and they were glad it was not invisible because it was so beautiful!

    • I hope she will at least remember feelings of warmth, friendliness and creativity in the grandparental household! The Hitty’s favourite photographer worked hard to make the cake with the Queen of Flowers and the Hitty helpers, while the Quimper Hitty human was working hard at the Museum! We all enjoyed the result though, very much indeed!

  1. Flowers need a place to grow. “The Queen of Flowers” of course gets dibs on the most perfect and beautiful garden of her choosing.…that is why she came to blossom and be fed in Quimperville. Speaking of being fed… This strawberry cake is befitting the Queen and her loyal, royal Hitty entourage.
